This is one of those Blue "Lobsters" they sell in pet stores. It's really an Australian Crayfish or Yabbie. I'm feeding him defrosted Bloodworms here. He loves them (that's an understatement: he goes rabid for them) and will chase the fish away from them... Which doesn't really work to his favor because if he chases one fish away the other grabs the worms from the opposite direction (Note: He's getting a 20 gallon home now that he's grown)

  • do they need proper water care? as in the heater, and the temperature (the yabbie)?

  • The info I read that seemed the most credible said that Australian crayfish needed warmer temps while US crayfish preferred colder water. I don't recall the temp; I just kept mine at 70 -the house heat (we have a newer system) was almost enough to keep the water warm and even. It also said they need well oxygenated water. And they may not need GREAT conditions but they need decent ones. I'd use a filter. -So, if I get what you might be asking, you'd need full tank set-up to be safe.

  • MEAN crayfish or whatever that thing is. lol

  • Mean for food XD She was always so hungry! Probably why she grew so fast. Funny thing is- She actually never tried to hurt the fish.. (and then I separated them before she was large enough to really do anything.) I think she was just worried about them stealing her food from her XD

  • i had no idea bamboo could be sumerged like that?

it gives the tank a unique look

    does it do well underwater?

  • Mine didn't do very well at all. (But, then again, I suck with plants) I think I've seen people with it in their tanks and it looks bigger and healthier - but, when I thought about it, I wouldn't be able to tell you if they grew it in their tanks or grew it outside of the water and then placed it in when it got bigger. I'm sure you might be able to google some info on it though.
