I wrote this song while very homesick. But it's also about a different kind of homesickness. (Sorry, it's not too much like Celtic music, but I didn't know how else to classify it.)
Lyrics:
I woke up this morning with your mountain breezes
Blowing through my hair.
And your leaves, they were changing, and their colours were glowing,
And smoke hung in the air.
But I'm not there.
I'm far away.
Chorus: Oh, I'll see you in my dreams at night,
And I'll be there.
But when I wake up you're gone
And I'm far away.
I'm far away.
So I'm spending today counting spots on the window
And writing down this song.
I've got dishes in the sink, and the house, it needs cleaning.
But the day just feels too long.
And life just feels unfair
When I'm far away.
(Chorus)
Yes, I know everything must happen for a reason
Even distance from all I love.
I guess being here now, it's easy to remember
My true home's up above.
And one day, I'll be there.
It's not so far away.
Chorus: Oh, I'll see You in the morning light.
And I'll be there.
When I wake up, I'll be gone,
Yes, I'll be far away,
I'll be far away.
I'll be far away.
