Everyone is getting ready for a merry Christmas on Sesame Street, when Oscar the Grouch asks Big Bird a very disturbing question: How does Santa Claus, "who is built like a dump truck," get down all those skinny little chimneys? With the help of all his Sesame Street friends, Big Bird attempts to solve the Santa Claus riddle, and in the process discovers that the true miracle of Christmas is the spirit of loving and sharing.

  • @flix2view This was in the 1970's. Elmo didn't become part of Sesame Street till the mid 80's.

  • This was such a heartwarming special! Loved it as a kid and I still love it to this day! But when I was little every Christmas Eve, I made sure my parents locked the doors and windows when we went out because I was scared when we came home Cookie Monster would try to eat our Christmas tree! Does anyone have any clue what made Cookie Monster want to eat the Christmas tree??? Please respond anyone! :)

  • If Cookie Monster had Santa's phone number, why didn't he just give it to Big Bird? Big Bird could have called Santa and asked him.

    But a great special! Classic!

  • I laughed when Cookie Monster ate the typewriter

"Or Maybe Santa bring me bunch of fortune cookies with delicious PAPER inside them!"

  • Funny thing SS had been on for nearly 10 years when this speicall first aired.

Make you wonder what look them so long?

REguardless it's wonderfull to see this.

  • I'll tell him where to put his toys XD I love Oscar

  • Thanks a bunch for uploading. This is one of my favorite Christmas specials. The funniest part was when Ernie, Bert, Cookie, and Count were jumping barrels. :D
