Watch a step by step guide on how to test your blood glucose levels. In order to perform a blood glucose test you will require your blood glucose meter, a test strip to hand, a lancing device and a monitoring diary to record the results of your blood glucose test.
Diabetes.co.uk's Benedict Jephcote runs through how to test your blood sugar. In this video, Benedict is using a OneTouch meter and test strips.

@AnabolicMutant not all areas in your body are highly vascular. for adults, the side of the finger is chosen because it is highly vascular and contains less nerve endings. for babies, the heel of the foot is chosen. also, the side of the finger is less sensitive to pain while the tip of the finger has a dense nerve supply.
the puncture site always matters because any alteration can affect the results.

Why do people insist so much on doing the finger just because other people say that is where to site the lancet????
SILLY in my view!!!! Blood is blood is blood, whether it is done in your arm, your finger, your foot, your arse, or even you head.... it doesn't bloody matter so long as it bleeds where you stab!!

I never record my results in a Diary. It is rather annoying to do it every time, since I check my blood-glucose at least six times a day. Sometimes more than that.
My Monitor keeps records of what my blood-glucose has been running, anyway.
