Kyle Clements: Ice Melt

My landlord recently replaced my fridge with a much larger one, and this one came with ice cube trays! Naturally, my first thought was "sweet, now I can make a timelapse video of ice melting".

After finishing the candle time lapse video, I thought ice would be a good subject to tackle next, being the opposite of fire, and something that changes over time.
Unlike the previous video, this shoot was only three days long, because I had both cameras going at the same time. My hacked Canon Powershoot SD1100 is running CHDK was used for the medium shots, and my Nikon D70 and an 8X macro filter attachment was used for the close ups.

Since I am a fan of bright colours, I put a few drops of food colouring into some of the ice cubes. 3 days later, my fingers are still died red. does this stuff ever come off?

I shot 2,971 photos for this video sequence, which is just about 2 minutes at 24fps, so nothing ended up on the cutting room floor (or recycle bin, as it would be called in a computer based non-linear editing environment)

The video was assembled in Sony Vegas 7a,
The music is an original composition of mine. Right now the track is titled "Kyle Dorian E Oct 1" (but, like the last videos backing music, I'm open to suggestions for a better name). The music was Programmed in FL Studio v5

Food colouring actually delayed production of this video for a day.

I forgot to run out and buy it during the day, when I remembered, the store was closed.

I was surprized how intense the colours turned out.  I was expecting them to look washed-out under the bright halogens.
