Favorite Artists: Hubble Space Telescope

This is another in Bestjonbon's series on Favorite Artists, but with a difference. This artist is 43.5 feet long and weighs 24,500 pounds. The Hubble Space Telescope has been orbiting earth since 1990, and while a flawed mirror caused its early art offerings to lack some focus, Hubble's artistic technique improved greatly after a team of NASA art-stronauts corrected it in 1993. Now cranking out beautiful space art at a fabulous rate, the artist Hubble has also made some important discoveries for the scientific community. The artist is expected to continue working until at least the year 2013, at which time an eagerly anticipated successor, the James Webb Space Telescope, is due to be launched.
