The Da Vinci Code is a controversial mystery/detective novel by US author Dan Brown, published in 2003 by Doubleday.

This novel has provoked popular interest in speculation concerning the Holy Grail legend and the role of Mary Magdalene in the history of Christianity. According to the premise of the novel, the Vatican knows it is perpetuating a lie about Jesus' bloodline and the role of women in church, but continues to do so to keep itself in power.

Dan Brown's novel was a major success in 2004 and at times it was outsold only by the highly popular Harry Potter series.[1] It spawned a number of offspring books and drew glowing reviews from the New York Times, People Magazine and the Washington Post.[2] It also re-ignited interest in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. Additionally, The Da Vinci Code, itself preceded by other Grail books such as The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail by Michael Baigent and others, and Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum, has inspired a number of novels very similar to it, including Raymond Khoury's The Last Templar, and The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry.

@CosmosPrivateer ...hole to find the true religion or whatnot. The Bible has proven itself trustworthy, notwithstanding all the fierce attacks it comes under. If you believe there's a God, He's worth searching for, right? If You don't believe in Him, you should look for Him before throwing Him out the window, because the implications of His existence are eternal. If He does exist, we have more than ourselves and the government to answer to. Thanks for your polite demeanor.

@CosmosPrivateer did u look at any of the stuff? their whole point is that these books that Zeitgeist gets its ideas from are misrepresenting the facts. Concerning the number 33, that's interesting, but I don't see what that coincidence is supposed to prove. It certainly doesn't say anything about what Jesus Himself promoted, since the Free Masons didn't come around until much later. I encourage you to look at the Apologetics Etc. playlist on my channel. You don't have to chase down every rabbit

Many books have been written about the religious stories. Look up Manly P Hall and John Allegro. You are free to believe as you wish. Is it not odd that Jesus died at the age of 33 and the highest point of the enlightened Mason is 33 degree? Zeitgeist a great place to start a journey but not to end it there.

Truth can never be found there are just to many stories of the past. The only thing I now for sure is what I'm doing at this very moment.

@CosmosPrivateer If you're referring to claims like those in Zeitgeist, I suggest you look at the criticisms of Zeitgeist, which brings out the blatant misrepresentations the movie makes of various religions in order to try to make them look similar to the Gospel. I can see the devils stood all around Dan Brown's when he wrote that book. He stirs up Christianity and makes millions of dollars. I'll tell you, the money that he lives off on by "The Davinci code" is the devils money. The devil will welcome him in hell on his last day.

I choose to believe absolute truth. Not spatial theory or relativism. It's this that has caused the moral decay of mankind. If there is no plumb lines, there are not absolutes, no absolutes, there is no order. Everything from outerspace to the world as we know it has an exact math and science. It's not a theory, an intelligent designer does exist.
