@d2h4w No! That happened under the Hoover administration. Deficit spending and trade protectionism (State interventionism) is the way to go. Stop being a Orthodox economist. We all know that the US economy is in trouble because of the banks and house prices went bad to worse, relation between USA an china is necessarily important. High traffifs will make things bitter.

@d2h4w devaluation renminbi against US dollars will not solve the american problems...in short term..Chinese goods will become more expensive..it will make the businessman in america to turn to indians and pakistanian's good ..instead of american shelves are filled with chinese stuff it will make the shelves filled with indian and pakistanians stuff...same problem..diferent supplier...

Really, I thought those bloody Brits used the Pound, why would they want to rescue the Euro since they are not necessarily affected by it? You know, the word on the "street" is that the US wants to sabotage the Euro as well...in essence, it has already accomplished that in light of these bailouts and European crises. See, these Anglo-Americans have a "special relationship" in which they want to rule the world, just look at their history if you are skeptical about this bond...

currency manipulation is only possible because of fiat currency. under gold standard, currency manipulation isn't possible. solution: return to gold standard.
