Some highlights from the annual event organized by students at the Oberlin Student Cooperative Association (OSCA) at Oberlin College. The local food fest brings college and community together and mixes local farmers, education, food politics, and the great annual squash cook-off. This competition challenges coops to come up with the most creative uses of winter squashes abundant in Northeast Ohio at this time of year. Judges for the cook-off included Emma Dorst (President of OSCA), Brad Masi (1990 OSCA local food coordinator also with New Agrarian Center), and Joe Waltzer (OSCA alum and owner/chef of the Black River Cafe). OSCA has been an active supported of local foods since 1990 and is one of the largest student housing/dining cooperatives in America. Film shot and edited by Brad Masi

I am glad to so Oberlin co-opes are still on the cutting edge of
sustainable food production and consumption. I lived at Harkness in the 80s and loved it.
