@codenamecordon for that power you'll need better internals the block should be ok tho. the the 3.0 is cheaper and more reliable in the e36. if you can afford it go for the e46 m3 engine because horsepower freaks in the USA supply kits off the shelf for them. these engine produce massive power, are more reliable than jap engines of the same power and its not an uncommon sight to see them push way over 1100bhp with excellent relibility

@lostwill86 if I need to make, let's say... 600-700hp, is that okay with these engines? and rather a 3.0 than a 3.2? do I need better internals and new manifolds for that?
@codenamecordon it depend on your buget if you can afford it go for the e46 3.2 but if you are on a tight buget go for the e36 3.2 or even better a 3.0 because its a stronger engine as standard. they take pretty well but you'll need to upgrade your head gasket, manifold, pistons etc if you plan on running very high boost, but if you are going to sun low boost the standard internals will be ok but an upgraded head is a must. i suggest better pistons and cams to make things run better too!
@lostwill86 since I'm putting together some projects myself, could you tell me, how good does the 3.2 take forced induction? and are you talking about the 3.2 from the E36 M3 or the E46 M3?

@lostwill86 niice (Y) but yeah, there was even a forum thread about a 5-liter twin-turbo squeezed into an E30. but E36 325 to 4.4 conversions are quite popular here in Estonia :D where are you from?

@lostwill86 so if I don't have much money - E36 3.0. if I can find a pot of gold - E46 M3 engine. (+better internals and manifolds) correct? :D

@codenamecordon i'm from ireland, here we'll normally go for the 4.4 because its easier to get, or we'll turbo the 3.2
