A video of an unused 4-Player mini-game I recently discovered by hacking Mario Party.

This mini-game seems to match up with one of the unselectable options on the debug menu, Yoshi no Shitaawase, which translates to Yoshi's Tongue Meeting/Contest.

In this mini-game, baby Wigglers are sent across a river on Yoshis' tongues in an attempt to reunite them with their mothers. You must press the A button to stop your Yoshi's tongue at the right time so that the baby can be safely retrieved by mom. Too soon, and the baby won't make it there; too late, and baby will knock mom into the bushes!

The mini-game seems to be incomplete as the musical fanfares get cut off by other sounds, and there is debug text that tells you whether or not you missed the mark.

The following GameShark code lets you play this mini-game in the North American version of Mario Party:

800F09F7 0008

Enable the code after entering Mushroom Village, then enter another place to start the mini-game.

  • Everyone's on a Yoshi...except Yoshi. xD

  • @InfiniteBlaze93 And that is probably why it was removed. /:-)

  • @Mattress87 oh. How fast is the timing

  • @MiniVoltar This is why I told you to be more specific in the other question. If you had worded the question in some way similar to "Which character are you?," I would have known exactly what you were asking.

The correct answer is none of them. All four are COM players, because CamStudio and Project64 make my computer lag when I use both simultaneously, and this mini-game requires precise timing.

  • @Mattress87 I meant in the game. But cool! I didn't know you where a ROM hacker for seven years

  • @MiniVoltar I am Mattrizzle, a.k.a. Mattress87, a ROM hacker for seven years and the uploader of this video. I would be revealing too much if I said anything else...

  • @Mattress87 ok I saw that. BTW who are you?

  • @MiniVoltar It's mentioned in the third paragraph of the video description; second sentence. It's hard to be more specific than that, as it's difficult to get the timing just right.

  • @Mattress87 The button Controls

  • @SomeFluffer64 I haven't had a working GameShark that can use keycodes for almost a decade. I had two GameShark Pros and both randomly died, leaving me with only a v1.07. A pdf of an instruction manual from April 1999 didn't list Mario Party as one of the games requiring a key code.
