Well, try making a video to this, apart from the fact I had no idea what borscht was when I began this, hence the misspelling at the beginning of the video, a challenge indeed, certainly a micky take, but what else could one expect from a novelty gramophone.

I don't know who Micky Katz was, and never will now. But he certainly was able to have a chuckle. Romance or Reflection well this one is firmly in the reflection camp.

  • Mickey Katz was Joel Grey's dad and Jennifer Grey's grandfather.

Born in New York City, Jennifer Grey is the daughter of stage and screen actor Joel Grey and the former actress/singer Jo Wilder. Grey is the granddaughter of comedian and musician Mickey Katz. She is an alumna of the Dalton School, a private school in Manhattan, and studied both dance and acting.

  • @mashpeewee1 In a word, wow!. Thank you so much for this information, I have a few of his old recordings, so will endeavour to put them up now with these words and a link to your channel..

This is another part which I enjoy, very much, finding out about the backgrounds of the performers who have produced these old records.

Once again thank you for taking the time to comment and for the information.

  • Mickele !!! The best of all.

  • Love this parody even tho I hate borscht and pickled beets.

  • I had no idea whether this old Yiddish song could be found on YouTube, but it seems anything is possible here. As a kid in the 1950's, I remember my father playing this song on his old 78's on the Victrola. Thanks for the memories.
