Today is Valentine's Day - so I would like to present a song from France and one from Germany.
The French song is "Le premier rendez-vous" (Her first rendez-vous) which was originally sung by Danielle Darrieux in the 1941 movie "Le Premier Rendez-Vous". Produced by Continental Films it was an enormous hit during the German occupation....
Danielle Darrieux recorded "Premier Rendez-Vous" for Polydor and many different recorded versions exist. The song was usually recorded by singers with higher pitched voices. Rose Avril - whose voice was considerably deeper - recorded her version for Pathé in 1941.
Rose Avril started her recording career around 1938 and became a popular singer during the second world war recording "exotic" titles such as "Querida", "La Morena" (both Paso Doblés),chansons like "Le premier rendez-vous" and some (4) French versions of Zarah Leander songs (See my channel for "Chaque soir j'attends l'amour/Jede nacht ein neues Glück"). After the war she continued her career succesfully but withdrew from show business in 1958. She retired to the Côte d'Azur, where she died - too young - in 1973.
The video's theme is "love" and features old postcards which seem to fit the video very well...
The German song is the tango "Schön ist die Nacht"

La voix n'est pas aussi claire que celle de Danielle Darrieux, c'est plus une voix de femme, mais c'est une belle voix! Merci!

C'est vrai que la voix est plus grave que celle de Darrieux...
