Liang Bua is a large limestone cave on the Indonesian island of Flores and the location of the recently discovered Homo floresiensis (better known as then hobbit). Originally excavated in the 1950s by Father Verhoeven, the site has been dug almost continuously since. In 2003, an almost complete skeleton of an ancient human species was discovered during excavations. Remains of nine individuals have now been found.
