The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April, 2008.
The Williston basin also known as the Bakken has the largest domestic oil reserves since the discovery of Prudhoe Bay in Alaska.
There is a possible 2 TRILLION barrels of oil in an area spaninf north/south Dakota to eastern Montana and up into Canada.
With modern drilling technology, oil can be produced at roughly 16$ per barrel!
There is estimated to be enough oil to fuel the entire U.S. Economy for 41 years.
There is 8 times the volume of oil in Saudi Arabia!

This N. Dakota oil field has been known since before certain laws were enacted to prevent drilling for it, for gold, silver, copper, dalt, etc....without a looooot of red tape and obfuscating laws in place to stall extraction until "they" (govt., rulers, elites, etc.) figure out a way to take it from its rightful owners. That is, people who own land directly over it...all over it. This is how govt. works and has always worked. Govt. doesn't give a fig about the environment.

@PHenry500 Thay are after it in north dakota right now. The reson why we dont drill a lot of ower oil is because the enviormetelists wont let us thay wont let us get to a lot of gold, silver, copper, salt etc mines because thay claim it will be to ruff on the enviorment but i think its all horse crap i baleve in makeing shur we dont destroy the enviorment but i baleve we can get this gold with out hurting any thing in most cases. Why are we burning ower food when we already have the crude?-

For folks who invested in 2008 in companies drilling in the Bakken have made a killing. Look at Yahoo financials for KOG, NOG, BEXP, CLR, EOG, OAS, to name a few. In the past ten days, Jim Cramer, Mad Money, has had not less than three segments on the Bakken, although he appears to have gotten to the Bakken a bit late.

Google the blogs, milliondollarway and look for the Bakken in the sidebar to get the full story...without all the misspellings.

Oh, and at that 1:20 mark where you talk about the "Rocky Mountains" (under which the Wilson/Bakken is NOT), you show a picture of the Casper Mountains in my home state here. Nowhere near the oil, which is far north of that near the top of Montana on the east side and into North Dakota. I guarantee this video was made by some moron in Texas who's never been outside of his own county.

Read the actual report, nimrods. It was published in 1956, not 2008. The 2008 version was an update of estimates and is wildly contested by many, including the people who want most to be able to try to drill it.
The oil is in shale. It takes a crapload of energy to get it out. Most analysts agree that even getting 50% of it would be wildly optimistic and closer to 15-20% is more likely.
Wake up, people. If this oil was so awesome, why did they bother going into Iraq to get theirs?

I think that the whole thing is a scam to take advantage of the average guy to squeeze em' for every dime their worth.
How about a couple hundred nuclear power plants in the new mexico bad lands where nobody will see them to complain about em.
Of how about a butt load of geothermal? We got gobs of that!
How about taking big tracks of worthless dessert in texas and carpeting it with solar panels or hot steam generators.
How about we stop letting the government screw us! I'm sick of this world

I second that motion!
So many other safer, cleaner means of power, solar and wind power to name a few, and all free. Doesn't it just astound you what little is being done to save this planet???
