BBC radio 7 interview with Simpson and Galton. There they say Hancock was great to write for. He understood every nuance of the script on the 1st reading and kept to it. So sad that alcohol got the better of him.
G & S went on to write 'Steptoe and Son' another great BBC comedy.

superb.
i think this is the best, wasnt it the original pilot script?

In my opinion Hancock was only 'genius' when working with Galton and Simpson. That's not bad going though, eh?

I remember those days SO well and my dad trying to get Alias Smith and Jones on BBC2 on a UHF television.

Yes, I can See that.
And thare may be a case to say Ade is playing a the Sid James role.

It amazes me the lack of comparison drawn between Hancock and Rik Mayall in Bottom.
Rik even pays homage to the same gags, reading the dictionary on page one and smoking a ciggie through a biro as opposed to Toney jusrt burning his lip.
Mayalls manerisms are also just like Tony's yet no one compares the 2!
Mayall in Bottom is just like Tony, but on LSD and Viagra!

Good stuff.

Of course, how could I forget a gem like that..
Hope YouTube doesn't get nosey again & leaves this alone.
More people should get the chance to watch it.
