Aubrey Berry testifies in his own defense on why he shot Roderick "Dolla" Burton

Today Aubrey Berry testified the entire day in his defense to why he shot and killed Roderick "Dolla" Burton in self defense.

He testified that he had owned a weapon because he had been robbed two other times, and those incidents are documented with police authorities in Georgia. He mentioned how he was assaulted by Dammian "Te Money" Jackson in Atlanta at Club Platinum 21 over talking to a female named Crystal Jackson and how several of Te Money's friends joined in the assault on him. Both Dolla and his close friend/brother Will "Scrap" Robinson where at the club but because Berry balled up while getting beat on the ground he could not see if Scrap and Dolla were also kicking him. He did testify that when he was helped up by security he saw them.

Then 11 days later Berry is having lunch at PF Chang's in Los Angeles and notices Dolla and Scrap while returning back from the bathroom. Berry returns to his table and informs his business friend that he just encountered some Mansfield Crips that beat him up in Atlanta previously. Berry'f friend tells him to leave and he leaves. One minute after Berry leaves Dolla and his group leave out too, and at the valet area words were exchanged between the two. Berry testified that Dolla, and his two other male friends trapped him against the wall behind the valet desk, and when he noticed Dolla reaching for something, he shot him.

Berry will be under cross examination by the prosecution all day on Monday May 17, 2010 beginning at 9:30 am. Berry shot Dolla four times, once in the front, and three times in the back side, and he will most likely have to explain why he shot Dolla in the manner he did.
