BACCA is the High School after school program of the Puerto Rican Cultural Center that serves the youth of the Puerto Rican community in Humboldt Park, Chicago. Utilizing a range of media, this innovation program encourages participants to transform their community and share their skills and knowledge across generations. Community youth become the creators of media, rather than passively allowing media to shape their identities.

We currently offer classes in Poetry/Theater, Journalism, and Civic Engagement/Participatory Democracy where youth are trained as community organizers. We meet Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 4pm-7pm at the Batey Urbano youth space (2620 W. Division St.)

Our students are also driving an anti-underage drinking campaign in Humboldt Park focused on youth and adults that has gone through two phases: "This Is The Real Me" (youth) and "Teach Me How To Live Responsibly" (adult) and "Drop The Bottle" (youth). We are creating fliers, posters, theatrical productions, video PSAs, hosting events, and visiting schools on the subject. We are also collaborating Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos Puerto Rican High School & Roberto Clemente Community Academy
