Today I am shooting in the back garden with my brother. I am shooting my Weihrauch HW97k underlever rifle in .22 calibre, firing 5.5mm Eley Wasp pellets. My brother on the other hand is shooting what he believes to be a BSA break barrel rifle, though we cannot ascertain this. Again this is .22 calibre and he is firing Eley wasps, but of the 5.6mm flavour. As you will see in the video we are shooting a number of items further up the garden at i think about 35 yards.

  • Pretty good models right there, I even like the accuracy you both displayed when I caught a look at a target.

I know this will sound silly, it is legal to use an airgun in the back garden right? I have one ready to be tested and I'm a little unsure about it.

  • @eth92 as far as I am aware yes, it is. However bear in mind that you must be minimum of 50 feet (16 metres) from the centre of a road, and also have permission from the landowner (in this case the parents) also remember you are responsible for where your pellets land, if they ricochet (bounce off) into a neighbours garden your liable for it as that becomes an offense under the law. have a look on the BASC website for their code of practice, it gives general advice.

  • Ok, I see your having fun and all, but if your under leaver air rifle has a lot of miles on it ( yes I'm the U.S.) watch out it can take the end of your finger off ! My Chinese b3 tried to do that once, never get even a drop of oil around the sear ! And use thread lock on all the scope screws, that will keep it on for you.

  • @bad0onion

Indeed I was having fun, but I will point out that the German Weihrauch rifle is one of the most reliable around, so even though this has alot of miles on it, its still safe. The B3 however, the anti bear trap on that is just plain and crude, I certainly wouldnt trust it like this. As for the scope falling off, it was the fact the dove tail mounts where so shallow, that the scope rings had nothing to grip.

  • fps? on 5.5?

  • @thejosh0205 when last Chono'd was 580 - 586 fps using Air Arms pellets, it may have gone up slightly since then as the spring will be run in by now.
