  • Fabulous piece. So fitting. So glad the Pope heard SOME good music in the Catholic Church when he was here!

  • @kingofprussia33 well actually the See would be London so it wouldn't be Dr. Williams' See. I think he was given a very privileged place in the sanctuary with our Orthodox brethren, considering he was the only one in that row who didn't have valid orders! I think we were more than generous.

  • It definitely sounds more like a concert piece, rather than a processional. I admire the piece, but it just doesn't seem to fit the 'shuffle down to the altar' requirement.

  • It definitely sounds more like a concert piece, rather than a processional. I admire the pice, it just doesn't seem to fit such a stately liturgy.

  • Tremenda Bienvenida y Entrada Excelencia!

  • @jlandles A lie, YES, YES and YES. The good deeds of some anglicans can NEVER legitimize anglicanism (hey, atheists have built hospitals and schools and composed music and died for their beliefs too you know) which was founded, as I have said, because some king could not keep his libido under control. About His Holiness' viewpoint, can you give me something where he said that anglicanism had the full deposit of faith, which only the Church which Christ founded has?

  • @drupes So let's get this straight: the Church of England founded missions throughout the world; built hospitals; sent priests into some of the bloodiest battles over the last 5 centuries; had men die as martyrs; distributed the Bible to the four corners of the world; wrote majestic hymns even sung in Roman Catholic churches; and kept the faith against Fascist bombs - it did all of this based on, according to you, a lie?

Thank goodness your viewpoint is not even held by the Pope.

  • You can never accuse James MacMillan of being bland! The music of a passionate believer, love it or hate it. On a sadder note (no pun intended), I doubt I am the only one who finds the small minded sectarian point scoring I read in some of the comments deeply depressing. Being Catholic myself I cringe with embarrassment at the puerile disrespect directed at the Archbishop of Canterbury from some quarters. Thank God Pope Benedict and the Archbishop showed themselves above that kind of silliness.

  • Glorious...

  • @drupes Well said!

  • Zchoqö,?,

  • @mattjolley Having a male heir wasn't the real issue. Henry wanted Anne Boleyn, period. In the end, after all the destruction of his "reformation" (of which she was one of the architects), he tired of her and manipulated the courts to condemn her and have her executed. Divine (and poetic) justice for someone who pressured Henry to have St. Thomas More executed. More than one thousand years of TRUE Christianity snuffed up in a few months because some king can't keep his libido under control.

  • @drupes A rich tradition of Monastic education and agriculture ripped to shreds to fill Henry VIII's coffers, and centuries of Church and State coexisting under the successor of Peter thrown right out the window in the name of heresy and the quest for a male heir. Tragic.

  • we may well begin to hear this music in movies instead of that from Carmina Burana when a sense of impending doom and darkness is called for in the script. Magnificently written, MacMillan - truly, especially for "this" Pope.

  • Im sorry, but the pope must be having the biggest boner in the world with that music in his ears

  • @MegaKrishan123 She's not, she's the "supreme governor"of the "church", which title is non-biblical and non-historical. It was INVENTED to keep ecclesiastical authority in the hands of the king since the true local leader of the (pre-reformation) English church is the Archbishop of Canterbury. If you read your history, see what became of the great religious foundations of the British Isles under this perverted system!

  • @drupes I dont understand why our our country makes the Queen a bishop! I will allways be Catholic and British!

  • Viva il Papa!!!

  • play this video from 1:20 with the The Imperial March!!!

  • @kingofprussia33 Oh please, rowan williams is no more a priest and bishop than a African shaman. The last true Archbishop and Primate was Reginald Cardinal Pole. All that followed him are, in the words of Elizabeth I (who ironically permanently established Anglicanism) HEDGE PRIESTS. Lose the fantasy that your church, a creature of the state and born of the lust of a king, built on the blood of TRUE Catholics, is a continuation of what was started by St. Augustine.

  • holy mackerel, it sounds like they're strangling a bag of cats!!! it's awful, make it stop. blech. horrid.

  • Alucinante, fuertísimo, intenso, exelente!!! Bendiciones al Santo Padre, la religón católica es lo más, lo unico que vale en este vida!!!

  • @MattDawg579 lol

  • @hiroshi2020 Agreed. All praise and power to Papa Giuseppe!

  • A piece EVER so fit to honour the great and holy man who sits in St Peter's throne, and who succeeds St Peter as the head of God's one and only church! Long Live the Pope! What a beautiful video! God Bless!

  • @scholaglasguensis I know, real Catholic music is hard to come by in CATHOLIC churches these days, which is absolutely ridiculous. James MacMillan is a truly great composer. God Bless!

  • American Church... please take notes.
