Horses Swimming & Bathing - Appleby Horse Fair 2011

Here is a brief glimpse of the horses being washed and swimming in the River Eden, bare back style during the Annual Appleby Horse Fair 2011. The fair is the largest such event in the world, where travellers, gypsy's & horse dealers/traders from all over the UK & Ireland arrive to deal in all things related to the horse.

I arrived in Appleby at 4.30pm on the Friday carrying a 65ltr rucksack and immediately went onto the bridge to have a look, and ended up being on the bridge for over an hour before heading off along The Sands and up fair hill to find somewhere to pitch my tent.

@HarveyBubbs I have looked at your profile comments and all that you do is leave diatribe on other peoples work, probably due to your immaturity and lack of ability with both the camera and the editor. Nothing is more cruel in many peoples opinions than forcing horses over man made obstacles, but other people see control, skill and beauty, don't be so negative. Or if you want to try and be a man next time go to Appleby Horse Fair and tell people yourself, Big Boy!
