"...and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God" -- 2 Nephi 26:33, The Book of Mormon

  • Beyond that, many experience the joy of connecting with family, some for the first time in their lives.

  • "But to me, the more important number is the close to 10,000 total hours a month spent here in the center by the inmates," Elder Lunt said. "That's time they weren't up on the cell blocks, time when they were in an environment that was constructive. And frankly, it's an environment where the Spirit is, and they can feel that. Some of them don't know what it is; they just say, 'We feel good down here.' "

  • I am glad this stake is doing something to help African-Americans trace their genealogy because it is very difficult for many African-Americans whom decended from slaves, especially those who decended from field slaves (generally darker skinned slaves), to trace their roots.

  • There is no contradiction in the Bible. Judas went and hung himself and then his body later fell down and split open. The rope or branch of the tree probably broke due to the weight and his body fell down and his bowels spilled out.

Notice that Matt. 27:3-8 tells us specifically how Judas died, by hanging. Acts 1:16-19 tells us that he fell headlong and his bowels gushed out. Acts does not tell us that this is the means of his death where Matthew does.

    Now, answer my questions please.

  • johnyjamie-

So why does the Bible say one thing, but...the Bible teaches another thing?

    (Wait, the Bible contradicts itself?)

    Yes, it does.

(So does that mean that the Bible is not true?)

Well, if you use the same logic against the Book of Mormon, then yes, it is not true.

    ........

For one interesting example - why not check out how Judas dies after betraying Jesus Christ?

There are a couple different versions in the same New Testament.

  • These questions are not unreasonable considering the Bible (God's Word) says one thing, but Mormonism teaches another thing.

Why do you ignore the questions?

Is it that you don't really believe the Bible to be the Word of God?

(And, yes, when compared to original manuscripts, it has been translated correctly.)

  • johnyjamie - Would Jesus Christ go around bible bashing?

Besides, you are misinterpreting the scriptures. Only the Holy Spirit can we truly understand their meaning.

Know that God loves you. He has restored his gospel truths and invites all men to come and partake.

    God Bless.

  • Titus 3:9 & 1 Tim 1:4 are clear that geneologies are unprofitable and vain.

Is it so you know which dead relatives you must be baptized for? The bible says people must make the choice to follow Jesus before they die! Luke 16:25-26, Heb 9:27

And why do you think there's marriage in heaven? The bible says no. Matt 22:29-30

And why do LDS teach most people will go to heaven when the bible says most are going to hell? Matt 7:13-14

And why do LDS teach that we pre-existed? 1 Cor 15:46-47
