Enjoy the song. It is about helping others, not disparaging everything in sight. BC asks early on, "Did you pay your dues?" Easier to condemn than to comfort, always.
I'm old and have read too many books to count and the best single line I've ever read is just this, "In the end, only kindness matters".

Oh Yea! There is a group of folks out there following Dylan around on his tour in a big painted up bus, nice folks too. They want to "save" ole Bob ! They think him worthy of a everlasting future destiny, based on his deep meaningful and spiritual connections from his songs! Maybe so. But I think this song is more worthy of such interest and whatever the destiny is of Bob and the rest of us, well this song ain't such a bad destiny to sing about at all!

I have news for you. Share the Land was written in 1970 and appeared in the album of the same title in 1970. this performance was from October 1970 live on the Johnny Cash Show. I know because I have the DVD of the entire show.
