About Clockwork and their only album Surface Tension. By me.
Five guys from Philadelphia, formed a progressive rock/metal band called Clockwork, and made their only album before disbanding: Surface Tension. They have a pretty varied sound, they make use of a lot of instruments, but still, people thinks it resembles Dream Theater a lot, so their complaining about it, as usual... I like Dream Theater (except SC album) so; no problem.
This remained undiscovered by many, which is sad, cause I would love em to come back with another album. Clockwork is characterized by great vocals (the singer definitely puts his emotional touch to it, which sound pretty amazing), intricate guitar work, progressive drumming, colourful keyboards... (pretty much like DT yeah)... but, best of all, these guys mixed up so much in every songs (influences, styles), people love it, people hate it, but everyone has at least one song to like on the album. I don't recommend listening to only one song, cause this can't be representative of the whole genre, but what I do recommend is to buy this album if you're a proglover, or just if you are like me, a progbeginner (let's say that I'm new to the genre). Surface Tension is original, it's new, fresh, and it worth the money, since there are so much on the album, as I said.
One Wing =
-Is hard to define. It's complex, it's structured. Idk dude.
-Very guitarful guitar solos. And very beautiful guitar, specially at the end of the song.
-Vocals worthy of what that "Douglas Joseph Matthew Gillin" guy can do. (He has his own unique voice, which he can handle through a big range of pitches.
