The robot in this video has two light sensors mounted on the front pointing slightly left and right. The control algorithm uses a simple 4-neuron artificial neural network to map the input light intensities to motor control signals. There is no learning in this video--that will be shown in a later video. The four connections in the neural net used in this video were set ahead of time to fixed values that were known to work.

  • Major great ! Frankly speaking I am interested in the hardware used in the robot featured in this video, but then can you list down the hardware used in order to develop this robot.

  • @zackdreamer86 Thanks! The hardware used on the robot in the video includes a Serializer microcontroller made by the RoboticsConnection together with a pair of 7.2V gearhead motors from the same company. The 5" wheels with knobby treads are from Vex Robotics. The light sensors are from Phidgets and the platform is just an acrylic disk from Tap Plastics. The Serializer is being controlled wireless from my PC over an XBee link.

  • Hi, very interesting work.

Just a little off-topic question: what music you used in your video?

  • @bunsencharles Thanks! I believe you can see the music info beneath the number of views above. Click on the AmazonMP3 link and you should get to the name of the song.

  • Thanks! Just in case you didn't see them already, there are two new entries on my blog page about learning in neural networks.
