where could i find a gambian rat ???/ i have 2 regular rats but i love to have one of those . can you write back so we can chat ?

@summerlove1517 due to an outbreak of monkey pox gambian rats are no longer available in the US, even if you went to europe you wouldn't be able to get one, gambian puched rats are not allowed to be imported to the US to prevent future outbreaks. regular Rats can live to 5-6 years, even rats from the petstore can live this long if lucky. (i did reserch on these guys, if there is a breeder in the US i have no idea where)

I'm looking into one of these when I move out. I've had rats, ferrets, rabbits, are they that much different? Or could I be able to handle it?

How do you get such a cute baby.I live in the U.S (lubbock, tx) Im a rat lover but i wish they would live longer these guys live up to 7 years i want one and know how much care they take.

Hi Summerlove, I handle the babies as soon as it possible to do so. This is just for a few minutes at a time and then placed back with parents.. It appears they are very difficult to find in the US, we are always getting asked about them from people in the states.

Hi Superpenguin, Most GPR are handleable. They need to be socialised when young and then handled on a regular basis to keep them friendly. We have never been bitten by any of ours.
