Creationist are atheist because literal interpretation is for the simple minded.
It is quite obvious that literal interpretation serves no intellectual use.

The 1st step is to understand the written word in history.
Until recently, many nations still had no written word such as: Africans, Aborigines, American Indians etc no writing = no articulation in science or culture. In Biblical times the list is greater.
These peoples are referred to as Gentiles, especially tribal peoples.
No group of people had any form of writing without religion.
