Dean stands at his father's grave and remembers the time when he asked his dying father what the meaning of life is. John tells him when he listens to a great song, sees an eclipse of the moon, or looks into a beautiful person's eyes and falls in love, he won't need to ask that question ever again.

Then he tells Dean the riddle "There's a reason for the world, you, and I."

Years later, after John has passed away, Dean is picking his son up from school. He asks his son, Jamie, what he learned in his life because life isn't perfect like the fairy tales he's heard.

Jamie tells his dad, Dean, that he loves him for free. Dean realizes that the person you love is what gives you a reason to live and with that, you got all you need in life. And he loves Jamie for free in return.

OR

Dean visits his dying father and they share a talk, and now Dean wants to be a great dad just like his father was to him.

**This is just my interpretation of the song. You can see it any way you want it.

***Of course I'm such a B/D shipper, so it is implied that Brooke is the mother and she makes a cameo appearance at the end. =P
