David Campbell is the principal and CEO of Geiger Engineers, a New York based engineering firm tasked with the structural engineering phase of replacing the old inflatable roof at BC Place with a new, retractable roof.

The work included erecting 36 masts and compression beams, as well as installing a new cable-net system.

Campbell said other considerations included addressing seismic issues and making sure the new roof could withstand large volumes of rain and snow.

BC Place is scheduled to reopen on September 30 for the first home game for the B.C. Lions, facing off against the Edmonton Eskimos.
