  • Mesa, for sure, has a different sound. I really like the liquid tones of the early boogies (Mark II and III - John Petrucci-esq). Engl has a more compressed sound - haven't played one yet, so it would be hard to compare. Have you played a Bogner? The Bogner Ecstasy isl rounded in that respect.

  • What do you guys think of this tone?

  • @taylorrr686

This amp has no effects built-in, delay is his own unit

  • Might be because this is channel 2.

  • Does anyone know if this amp has a built in delay like he is using? Or what Delay unit is he unit!?

  • And btw, Doug is an INSANE player!

  • I found the ENGL sounding a bit 'dead' and indeed compressed, it sounded flat. The Mesa sounds a lot more natural, but to make it REALLY tight and fat you should put a tubescreamer in front of it, then it has the insane leads and super tight, fat, sparkling but heavy rhythm.

  • Engls are known for their more compressed tones, but the invader seems to have a reputation as being more open and dynamic than most other engls.

  • No I haven't played Bogner, but I know there are great amps...Love Diezel amps to! one friend have one.

But my problem is with 2 amps, I don't know which. What do you think?

Mesa Boogie 20:20 poweramp+Rectifier preamp or Engl Invader?

I love all the tones of the Invader, it have the sounds that I try to find in a long time, but the Mesa have that tone for solos...and I'm lead guitarist. So dificult election...

    Help me please!

    Thanks!

  • I think it sounds great (definitely It is my sound), especially for rhythmic guitars. But I am not sure about the leads. I Think Mesa Boogie amps have better lead tones. Do you agree? why?

I wanna buy an amp but I don't know which, Mesa or Engl.

    Great playing!
