Life with a Baby Baird's Tapir at the Palm Beach Zoo

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, a baby Baird's tapir was born on exhibit at the Palm Beach Zoo to parents "Alyssa" and "Spencer"! This was the first time a baby Baird's tapir was born at the Zoo and things did not go as planned..."Alyssa" did not demonstrate good maternal behaviors and due to concern over the baby's welfare the difficult decision was made to hand-raise him.
