The full text of Virtue & Ignorance.

The optimal goal of life is to maximize your essence, not to maximize your pleasures & egotistical attainments.

Virtue is being in harmony with the essence of life which basically means not being self-centered & not seeking pleasure. When you are virtuous, your essence grows regardless if you know it or not. Therefore, virtue is its own reward.

Ignorance is being out of harmony with the essence of life which basically means being self-centered and/or pleasure seeking. When you are ignorant, your essence decreases regardless if you know it or not. Therefore, ignorance is its own punishment.

Virtue is only painful in the short run like sore muscles. Because, it requires you to give something up in the short run that long term wouldnt be beneficial. Virtuous people see more of the consequences of their actions.

Ignorance is only blissful in the short run like illicit drugs. Because, in the short run you get something you want but you fail to see the long term consequences of your actions. Ignorant people see less of the consequences of their actions.

Have you heard these sayings? You reap what you sow! Youve made your bed. Now, go lie in it.

Your actions determine your virtue. You are always planting something. Do you want to harvest wheat or weeds?

  • "not seeking pleasure"

THis is nonsense. If you give food to people that are poor, you get pleasure. This video is flawed, sorry. Also if you help friends in need, this gives you pleasure.

  • @SeeProfileForDetails You may not understand or appreciate the video, but it's not nonsense. If you're feeding the poor for your own pleasure, then you're doing it for the wrong reasons. It's about not seeking pleasure. It's not about never experiencing pleasure.

  • @BillyDKY the pleasure is not stuck inside one or the other person - the helper or the helpee. It's a two way stream. Like sex - you can't tell me that it's purely about giving the other person pleasure - women try to do this with men and never seek pleasure for themselves, and never have orgasms. That is terrible terrible way to live

  • @SeeProfileForDetails For instance, I get pleasure from doing these videos. However, it's not the reason I do this videos. The pleasure just comes as a side benefit. The purpose of sex is to have children, not pleasure. Pleasure is just a side benefit. If that gets switched around, then you'll windup marrying someone just for pleasure & eventually be miserable or less content than if you had your priorities straight.

  • @BillyDKY One purpose of sex is to have children, Another is to have pleasure. Another is to give pleasure. Another is to foster a relationship. All have their place.

  • @rfwelsh Sex all centers around kids in one form or another. Having the kids supported by highly bonded parents. Look at wild animals, they typically only have sex for procreation, not pleasure; even though pleasure is present. Humans on the other hand have lost that harmony with sex.

  • @SeeProfileForDetails It's really a priority thing. Seek to do what you believe is right (or will grow the world the most in a positive direction) without any hopes of pleasure. If pleasure comes good, if not fine.

  • You are a philosophical genius like myself. Let me ask you something, are you a gemini ascendant?

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
