Barnes, London SW13 1974
Working in the music business I had, with my family of four young children, three wonderful years living in Barnes from 1974-76. Found this old super 8 film the other day and it brought back some fond memories of a great little village, so close to London.

  • Good old Barnes I lived there from 1965 (age 5) till 1990 loved the place you would not think that you was in London as it was so pretty went to Barnes school in Lonsdale road and worked at Harrods dispository which is no longer there .

Still go back there from time to time as my mates are still there.

Great video , brings back good memorys

  • Iv lived in Barnes for 60 years and its the best lace ever

  • So pleased to find this. Wonderful memories of the place i grew up in. The Sun Inn was my first pub. Used to deliver papers in all the streets off Church Rd.

    Thanks so much for posting.

  • I Grew up in Barnes .I was the milkboy to Sam kidd,Brain May diddy david hamilton,John petwee,Elaine Page and Colin welland .

  • Nice video. Grew up in Barnes! Good to see it way back then!!!

  • Lovely Video - I'm pleased to say that it hasn't changed that much!

  • I'm from Barnes too and my parents have pictures of themselves in Barnes in the 70's but it's amazing to see actual footage... Thank you! It hasn't changed too much by the looks of things (apart from The Sun Inn lol) but it seems quieter than it is now. Still, it's home and I'll always love it, no matter what :)

  • Expensive for property but an idyllic place to live. In the nineties, a friend used to drive us through Barnes to visit another friend who lived in Ealing. I Always felt an attraction for that area.

The actor Robert Patinson, who grew in Barnes, said recently in an interview that it has changed since he was a kid, and doesn't feel like a village anymore.

  • I live in Barnes and always wondered what is would have been like in the seventies, well done! beautiful video, the music choice is perfect, almost sureal dream like

  • amazing stuff, just the same, lived there from 1979 until present day....
