Stone Sour - Through Glass - Full Band Cover by Alex and Chris Taylor (Studio Quality/FullHD)

My brother and I really like this song and I was keen to record something that I could sing nicely and do justice to. We first heard Stone Sour when we saw Avenged Sevenfold play a gig with them and were stunned to see how they just made A7X look like rookies... We fell in love with this song when they did it as an encore and felt we had to try and do our own cover!
I'm entirely self taught at bass, singing and music production so I'm very proud of this. Please don't be too cruel when commenting!
My brother (who is only just 15!) was fantastic in laying down his tracks and has done a great job at very short notice!

*I am aware that some of the footage doesn't sync up completely but I had to manually align it all so allow for some human error*

This is recorded with a variety of mics and equipment. Started with a drum track which I mixed down as well as I could and then played the other tracks over it.

Guitars used; M. Suzuki Acoustic, Hofner 1963 Committee semi-acoustic, Schecter Hellraiser Special C-8, Ernie-Ball Musicman Sting Ray 5 Bass.

Drums; Gretsch Catalina Birch kit with Sabian, Pulse and Zildjian HH cymbals and Yamaha/Pearl/Gibraltar Hardware. Also used a Dadi tambourine.

Mic's; Cheapy drum mic's (can't remember the make), AKG C1000S Condensers, Carol Dynamic Mic, Shure Bass Drum Mic

Mixer; Yamaha 32 Channel Analogue

Interface; Tascam US-1641 16x4

Recorded into Logic on my MacBook Pro and all tracks filmed on a Sony A33 DSLR and an iPhone 4. Mixed on a pair of Audio-Technica Monitor Headphones and checked on a friend's SRM-450 PA system.

We do originals, but if you read the title of this video you'll see it says 'cover'...

We have instruments as a result of years saving and practicing. I even built a guitar from scratch which was described by the Ernie Ball moderator as 'amazing'.

We're both grade 8 in our instruments, and my brother achieved that in less than 4 years.

This is a cover. I've a different voice to Corey...

I mixed this through a pair of Audio-Technica monitor headphones, and then checked the mix through a pair of SRM-450's, and finally a set of standard stereo speakers just to make sure it sounded reasonably balanced. It could just be your speakers, since if you're listening through a laptop or something, you might not pick up the drums so much since they're mixed with a lot of emphasis on the low-mids. Thanks for the compliment though!

Hi guys - congratulations - great video and great performance. I am sorry that you have to face mindless idiots giving useless feedback (and I could tell you are brits). You have bags of talent. My only comment is to work on the vocal - the voice is good - use it to tell the story. Just as in the guitar solo each note was picked with a reason and feeling that's the way to approach the vocal - consider each information containing word (i.e. not the ands, ifs etc).
