Christmas Cake in my Japanese school lunch

yeah! Today, we got a small piece of Christmas Cake with our kyushoku (school lunch). You can see how elaborate the packaging is and how each piece had a small round chocolate on top that said "Merry Xmas." Nice!

My school alone has about 450 kids, and the same company that provides our school lunches (every kid in the school eats the same lunch) also provides the lunches for all the area elementary schools, so at least 1300 of these little cakes appeared on lunch trays today.

Sad thing is they don't recycle the cardboard boxes. :(

But the cake was oishii!! (delicious)

I often get to eat bread that my kids don't want to eat, but there is rarely cake leftover, cuz who doesn't like cake?? :)

There is only extra if someone is absent from school - and then you usually have to "janken" for the extra piece.

Well they aren't going to let kids overeat and cost them tons of money. It's cake, you only need a little bit to satisfy you, not 10 pieces. that looks like a pretty large lunch already anyways. (:
