Greece is still the largest shipping country in the
world in terms of dry/bulk cargo and tanker fleet
capacity, despite the growing presence of China
which ranks third, just behind Japan. Abu Dhabi based National Petroleum Construction
Company (NPCC) has contracted Chinese shipyard
Zhenhua Heavy Industries for the construction of
their DLS 4200 derrick lay vessel developed by
Ulstein Sea of Solutions (USOS). Keppel opened its new integrated safety training
facility, the Keppel Safety Training Centre. Located
at Keppel Shipyard in Tuas, the Centre offers a
complete range of safety training and certification
courses in both trade-specific and broad-based
skills for its workforce across all levels.

@EdT586 China is a very badass country in everything it does. I really admire chinese so no matter her position in wordlwide shipping (which is 2nd in shiping and 1st in shipbuilding) China and Greece will always have strong ties. Thats why even though im Greek i am learning chinese, because China has not only strong shipping bussiness, like Greece but also her culture/people/philoshophy are marvelous. Ancient Countries, ancient ties!

China is killing shipping industry with it's huge cheap Shipyard workforce. Baltic index is showing always terrible signs. Also new-born rich olligarks or other idiot business people are jumping to have a ship on the name of prestige. They are killing shipping industry. No need to build lots of ships cos there is no enough goods cos of global downtrends.2-3 yrs later we are going to see a catastrophe in world shipping. Greeks know when to sell/ buy a ship since 2000 years !!!Regards from Turkey.

greece is tax heaven for ships, including south cyprus. That's why it's so. Chinese on the other hand ship their own goods.

if u have noticed greeks on aborad that live ins sweden,usa,germany,england,hol­land and in general everywhere except greece are mostly rich or have very good jobs and usually are math geniuses and scientists and make lots of money

Right,but you have to see that the money are "eaten" by the goverment and event he same goverment sabbotages its own country

Also greece has ground that can grow anything but instead goverment gives money to the people that are supposed to grow plants and products and they get mercedes and cars instead

@EdT586 Watch it. Greece doesnt export cargo, it transfers cargo from around the world, from point A to point B etc. Nothing is made in Greece, just transported by greeks. Hope it helps.
