World of Warcraft - /console spellEffectLevel

I found this nifty /console command by a post from Korkosh, AddOn developer to TweakWoW. The console command is /console spellEffectLevel "value".


By default it looks like spellEffectLevel is "9"
In this video I test out some different values in order:

Blizzard #1 - /console spellEffectLevel 9
Blizzard #2 - /console spellEffectLevel 2000
Blizzard #3 - /console spellEffectLevel 9999
Blizzard #4 - /console spellEffectLevel 9


I believe this would work with the AOE animations for a warlock's Rain of Fire and a Hunter's Volley. I do not know what else this affects, however it is fun to play around with. You can revert to your default spellEffectLevel settings by manually resetting it in the Video Options, or manually entering in a specific value /console command.


Please note: Setting a value too high for your computer to handle may cause in a massive framerate decrease, system crash, and a risk of other software or hardware malfunctions. Please use the settings at your own risk. I am not responsible for how low or high your setting is. Be very careful when setting it over 9000.

@musicaddicted777 The AddOn I used in this old video is called "rBottomBarStyler (Diablo)". The author is "zork" on WoWInterface.
