  • ahhh the meaning of this song is always true, Leave the weak be, even if they couldve wronged you

  • Well, this song never did find a place in the cartoon film, on account of Bilbo killing most of the spiders off and all that. Still, it's a beautiful song.

  • ah,the memories.............

  • @Okrawa

    Are you retarded?

  • If people would read the book you will see that tolkien wrote this song while in the forests of mirkwood, it's bilbos idea to literally make the giant spiders angry, he even kills a few by stoning them with rocks before he starts using sting on them, so that he can lure them away and free the 13 dwarves. When making the movie they had Laws and Yarbrough put vocals and music to Tolkiens existing poetry and songs.

  • @ZeroStryfe No. I'm guessing that there was going to be a part where Bilbo encountered a very old and blind spider, and he thinks about killing it, but reconsiders when he realizes how unfair a fight that would be.

Alternatively, perhaps this song would've gone with Bilbo thinking about killing Gollum just before he escapes, then reconsidering and opting to simply escape instead, then running into the Goblin guard, and everything else leading up to when he reunites with the dwarves.

  • @krutcheshobb the song actually about pissing off giant talking spiders so Bilbo can free his friends who the spiders are planning to eat.

  • This song is like Bilbos thoughts about killing Gollum. Love it.

  • smog is green?

  • I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!

  • @shinquickman

lol that would have been spider carnage with folk music in the background ^_^
