@DamnIGotIt He's right. We would all save alot of time if we simply just write in the hangul alphabet.
-
Because it's much more easy to understand meaning in Kanji than in Hiragana or Katakana. Kanji describes meanings, so peeple can immediately undestand meaning in kanji. Hiragana or Katakana scarcely describes meaning.
-
実際は1006文字以上覚えないと社会に出れないよ。
-
@oomnickuF hahaha, most agreed mate. I'm asian so english is my secondary language and my country has like 100 plus dialects never learnd any, the thing is my language (tagalog) has the same structure as in english. So fuck my life.

Kanji makes me cry.
-
I think it is easier for individuals that had learned mandarin since kanji did come from the chinese.
-
@chimak3d communicate in writing? It is hard to talk as they have different 音。
-
@saint1633 according to my Chinese friends, Mandarin using simplifed characters and each one has it own meaning and pronunciation. Meanwhile Japanese using traditional characters and each has many meanings and ways to pronounce depends on which characters standing next to it. And I believe Chinese don't use all of those 8000 characters except some high educated people.
-
We Chinese have to read and write 8,000 kanji :-)
-
I'm pretty sure that all the people who has hard time studying japanese thinks the same way as you said.

これらは基本的な漢字ばかりです。
日本では3000以上は知っておく必要がある。
これに加えて、漢字同士の組み合わせの2字熟語、4字熟語、故事
成語、音読み、訓読み、・・・ めんどくさい。。。

@teredaqwerty You need to get a teacher to learn, Some Kanji are pictural, Most Kanji refer to a mix of Meaning + Sound.
-
I am Chinese, I knew it is hard to learn those characters, but we have been used for thousands years, and it is for the identity of Far East Asian Culture. We must keep them. I can communicate with my Japanese friends with those characters.
-
@MrSchnieke because most of us are not 3 years old toddlers.
-
Can someone explain to me why everything is written in Kanji instead of Hiragana or Katakana?
-
@oomnickuF english is much harder than japanese, but i know that feel bro of "why wasn't i born in Japan?"
-
@oomnickuF Because you would have been required by law to learn English. English for a non-native speaker is also tricky business.
-
English has only 26 characters, while Japanese has Hiragana, Katakana, and 50000 Kanji.
So Japanese is 2000 times harder than English!!
No, I am just joking.
Any one language takes almost the same amount of time to master. They are all equally difficult. Some are little more difficult, others little easier.

all i want is a japanese girlfriend.. --facepalm--
maybe hiragana and katana is more important..
-
AH SHET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
-What you do is buy the tuttle Kanji Flash cards and instead of learning everything about the character, just remember the character and its meaning. Then when you complete that grade, then worry about the readings. It is so much simpler and if you have about 4-5 hours, you can learn a whole grade in one day!!! Just make sure you review that grade often.
-
Ahh... This is why I LOVE furigana... Too bad it's not used much except for little kids... >_<

@OXXXanonymousXXXO Even though there's not much japanese writings in America, i have a lot of japanese products that my mom got from Japan so I practice using those. Also, i live in hawaii and theres a lot of japanese products here because a lot of japanese tourists come here, so i also practice with the products in the stores.

Well if you start to learn Kanji at an early age, you shouldn't encounter much problems, and its much easier if you live in Japan, where everything is written in Kanji/Hiragana/katakana. But for many foreigners who aspires to learn the language, it's really very hard for us to master all those Kanji. Yes you need strong determination and tons of patience.
Please describe how you learn kanji in school? Do you take them one by one, or do you do texts with a lot of kanji and concentrate on the meaning of the whole text rather than the individuals. It would really help me in my study process. Thanks

@teredaqwerty Actually, my son is struggling to learn Japanese mostly KANJI in Germany. Almost everyday he has to learn literary one by one to increase the number of KANJI. Most difficult what I think is not a number but pronunciations (ON YOMI and KUN YOMI). It means you have to learn in a sentence.
