This is a song that my great Grandmother used to sing to my Mother when she was a child-in the 30's. I know there are many more verses but I love Emmylou's version. It's beautiful!

A great version of a great old ballad. I first heard this version in the ending credits of the movie Songcatcher and have been searching for it since. Many thanks to the poster for finally getting it up.
I love Emmy Lou's version best not only because of her lovely voice, but every word of lyric is nice and clear. I love old ballads like these and sing them to myself at work to help pass the time. I finally have all the lyric to this one now. :)

I am a very big Emmy Lou fan as well as a lover of this song since I was young, too long ago. This is the first I have heard Emmy Lou's version. (How big a fan can I be?) Thank you for uploading it. Hearing it has made my day.
