@shutuprafa - U keep on moving in circles without coming to the moot point. In which spell of his in test cricket did he surpass Murali & Warne. I am mean when did he bowl spitting cobras and unplayable deliveries.Do not launch into lenghty expositions just quote the spells where he was better than W&M in 3-4 yrs you are referring to in test cricket.You keep on mentioning spells-Just quote the test match and the particular spell(s)

@TheMaverickanupam clearly the Shoaib analogy went over your head. The greatest pace bowling I've seen has been a few of Shoaib's spells. Does that make Shoaib the greatest pacer of his time? NO! A few spells doesn't make you the greatest, and neither does 3-4 years of international cricket. Shoaib & Saqlain won't go down as the greatest of their time because they were unable to sustain their greatness. Some of the things Saqlain achieved in 3-4 great years, Warne and Murali never did.

@shutuprafa -So his best has to be compared to Warne's and Murali's best & they were always better, and how is shoaib's bowling related to saqlain being a better spinner. I don't see a corelation

@TheMaverickanupam I never said he had better careers than Warne or Murali. Read what I wrote more carefully: when he was AT HIS BEST. Saqlain was at his best from 97-00. Warne and Murali are great, but they both struggled against India, and finger spinners especially struggle in Australia. Same way, Shoaib at his best was the greatest pace bowler I've seen, but he also had such an inconsistent career that I wouldn't say he's the best pace bowler ever by a longshot.
