In 1976 , on a low budget album, I recorded Jesse's 'Mississippi You're
on My Mind.I'm still a big fan.

  • Dont know how I missed this one ..... considering you uploaded last year Jim. Absolutely brilliant my friend .

  • @evsynator Thank you Evs , glad you like it, and found it here....been going back to some more of Jesse lately, ......just trying to find a way of doing them justice....back and forth, little riff here and there......my 'modus operandi'..LOL

    Have a good shift today,

    Jim

  • Came back on my easy Sunday afternoon to give this one another listen, Jim. As lovely as ever.

  • @aplacetohideaway Thank you Sharron....my own Sunday was a 'recovery' kind.....two very late nights Fri-Sat took their toll...I was just opening the channel here and 'doodling' on an old Jesse song I'd done with a band , but I'm not sure it would work as just voc/gtr......he has some great songs.

  • @jamesfdonaldson I would love to hear you do another Jesse song. Would you ever consider tackling "Sham a Ling Dong Ding"? An enchanting song, and I think the guitar arrangement for that one is in a class by itself.

  • @aplacetohideaway It's certainly a fine song Sharron, but the answer has to be no, certainly for a while. ..but Jesse's always in the frame for covers, and there's stuff I really love..e.g. 'As Soon as I Get On My Feet'...'Mississipi You're on My Mind'...'I will Mean Something to You' and more...I'll be digging my old vinyls out if not careful.. LOL..

Thanks for considering me on Jesse's stuff. He's one of my favs. on many levels of music.

  • @7761864 Much appreciated Brian,...hey , you're quite a man for keeping the quality high in your work. We do what we can on the day....please look up some of Jesse's stuff , I'm sure you would enjoy a lot of it.

  • I've never heard this song before Jim, but I can't imagine the original can be any better. Nice guitar work, with your usual flawless vocals.

    Well done..

  • @bonesbach Thank you Bonesbach ,..I'm working through a whole bunch of my fave singer/songwriters over the years , and then I'll quit..Lol.........it's a Taylor 412c....bought new around 14 yrs ago...had to put an extra pick-guard piece on , as I normally use metal picks...but it's been a good working gtr.

  • Very nice, Jim. Love the sound of your voice and the relaxed finger style picking on this one. I've been catching up on some of the other videos you have posted as well. Love the version of Blue Umbrella by John Prine that you did with a trio back in 1992 I think. Excellent. What model Taylor are you playing here? I just bought a 2008 814ce through eBay after years of playing only Martins. I like it a lot so far but the neck needs adjusted just a tad.
