He responded: "Neither of them. The best and the most courageous troup I had ever seen were the Romanian ones. If you give them good generals, you will not find any other army as good as that one."

I was talking about the russian offesnive betwen 1 August 1943 and 1 December 1943. The romanian front was still the largest and the best defended, even if the russians concentrated almost only on that front.

I don't know where you heard that ingormation but is totally not true.

@timisica Which Russian offensive? Be more specific please. From the words of both Russian and German veterans I have understood that Romanians and Hungarians were very poor soldiers.

If the romanian soldiers were so bad, why in the russian offensive, the Romanian front was the largest, and the hardest to conquer?

in America Romanian involvement in WW2 is lost history, like Mexicans flying F4U corsairs from American carriers in the pacific Brazilians fighting in Italy. the Romaians fought bravely with inadequate weapons, and insufficient support from their supposed allies the Germans.
