UTSA Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Department is committed to provide a learning environment which encourages discovery and advancement for the betterment of its students and the community. Through its research, public service, and instructional programs, the department seeks to serve the needs of San Antonio and South Texas, by providing educational and research opportunities which will contribute to the technological and economic development of the region.

The department provides an undergraduate program that gives students an opportunity to prepare for professional engineering practice or for entry into a graduate program of study. The undergraduate program is based on a foundation of mathematics, basic and applied science, engineering science, and civil engineering fundamentals. It offers design and hands-on laboratory courses. The department seeks to develop innovative, relevant engineering research programs in environmental engineering, transportation, water resources, structures, geotechnical engineering, and structural dynamics; and offer advanced graduate courses; and conduct research in these areas.
