  • my grandfather Clarence "Goose" Retherford was in that same camp. He told me he ate a frog on that forced march.

  • I forgot to mention he was a tail gunner on a B17 in the 379th group 525th wing on his second mission.

  • My uncle was also in Luft Stalag XVII-B in I think barrack 35 He was shot down over Reinnes airdrome St Jaques. And spent from Sept 23 1943 till freed after being marched by the Germans from Austria where the camp was located. I wish to thank you sir for keeping the history ans memories of these men alive.
