CRAZY!! Fast Fun Flying my 180mph F5D pylon racer

This is my 800 watt electric powered pylon plane Avionik D-99 I have used in several World Champs. The normal flying course is a large triangle but this is just 'fun flying' it around to show the speed and maneuverability. It was filmed on an especially windy/gusty day but that doesn't really bother you when you are going 180+mph. Very important: Remove wedgie prior to flight ;)

It is a Hacker B40 FAI motor on 9-1700 NiMH cells, APC or CAM 4.75 X 4.75, about 90amps. I now fly this same airframe on 3S 2100 lipo with cut down prop to keep amps below ~65amps. It is faster with the Lipo set up and longer flights.

There are many models aside from this older Avionik (although the D99 is still a wonderful airframe). Search google for F5D for tons of info. DO NOT attempt to fly one of these without a substantial amount of experience with other very high speed models. You'll cost yourself tons of money and/or kill someone without knowing what you're doing. Troy (the pilot in the video) has been a many time US team member... knows his stuff.
