@BrassAxe well, the energy is effectively 'free', of course, its only a prototype, possibly to test the feasibility of such technology, not an active step towards implementation in the near future.
the range of motion and power generated per wave will be far lower compared to other hydropower generation systems.
the system itself is also bulky and generates relatively little relative to its size, ie misses out on calmer water energy also. etc etc
*this wont be the solution.

@daenumen I'm pretty sure if a company is investing in it, then it must have the potential to be viable power source. But i'm sure you own a multi million dollar company, so i'm sure you know what your talking about..

@earwax1uk the cost of manufacture and maintainance (in terms of energy alone) is likely more than that gained by operation.

Isnt this the Pelamis? The Pelamis was made by the people of Scotland not Spanish people... At least thats what I am lead to believe..
