Fascinating, but the biggest riddle to me is the non-technical part.
Some time ago I got interested in it and so I did some blender tutorials and finally tried to model a female face after some photos. But the tutorial told me exactly how to do the mesh.
On the other hand, if I watch such creative videos like this, it looks like you have exactly the shapes in your mind that you want to model...
But if I close my eyes and just think of a face, I have really problems to visualize it.
Respect.

I have a small question, i´m currently making a game in UDK (Unreal development kit) and i´m thinking about making the characters in mudbox. How do i then export them into 3ds max? so i can use them in the game.

Did you get taught how to do this or did you work it all out by yourself

@dings1337 That is what makes a good artist. They remember details and can visualize things and have the talent to recreate what they see.

@sekneox I just used your explanation to help me with my college work. XD. Thanks bro!

I would never even want to spend this much damn time on something. What blows my mind is that they still can't make these interfaces user friendly and STILL don't give proper descriptions for tools. Fucking twats. You always have to experiment like a son of a bitch to get anywhere with anything "artistic".

it looks like Lima Duarte (brazillian actor)

Can mudbox save it's 3d content as a certain 3d file?
Just asking, cuz' it looks like a good way to make 3d
animations.
did you had a photo or something to sculpt this or you used to dream with this sorta guy? lol
nice job btw

Is Mudbox like Zbrush? What do you think is better?
I want to use it with 3Dsmax or Maya

mudbox is a bit like zbrush, sculptingwise there are some similarities, i think mudbox' strengths are mostly in the fields of the learningcurve (you can learn it VERY fast) and the presentation, its not an out of the box solution like zBrush is, but if you want to sculpt with basemeshes from max or maya mudbox will do as fine as zbrush, but with a real perspective and some shaderthings you can't do in zbrush

I think the brushes in Zbrush give much better and faster solutions than the ones in Mudbox. But ur right it's easier to learn in some ways, although I think the interface of Zbrush is not THAT bad, it just has a bad reputation which puts people off

I never said zbrushs UI is bad, its a bit crowded but you could always customize it as you need, i think its basicly also because of the amount of features, that mudbox' ui is very simple and clean is pretty much because of the very small featureset. You have to see it as it is, zbrush can do way more and profesionally i'm using zbrush only these days, it takes some time to get into but its worth the time.
