Throwbacks and retro lids are nice, but nothing beats an original. Back in 1954 Bell founder Roy Richter formed his first helmet out of fiberglass and named it the "500." That moment was ground zero for the modern motorsport helmet and it gave rise to an entire industry. Bell's new Custom 500 pays homage to Richter's original design and adds modern protective technology to bring the design up-to-date while still keeping the original's aesthetic. By combining a custom fiberglass layup with a specially designed EPS foam layer, Bell engineers were able to craft a helmet that is at once light weight, narrow in profile, and DOT-compliant. Adding custom paint-inspired graphics, chrome trim work (on some graphics) and a quilted liner, the new Custom 500 custom looks as good as it performs.

  • put the fuckin helmet on so I can see if it looks bobblehead.

  • I own the Speed Soul and it's a great helmet. I will complain about 1 thing though...while the quilted liner may look cool, what's not cool is the nice diamond cross pattern it leaves behind on your forehead after you take the helmet off. I really wish you would make the helmet with either no pattern or make the forehead area with no pattern.

  • What are the goggles the guy is wearing at 0:35???

  • @TheSuave230 Not at all. I just cut 1 stitch and then another a little ways away and just pulled that part out. Took maybe 15-30 minutes. What's left over is a liner with the quilted pattern but not the stitching. When it's against your head you still get the pattern imprint a little but since there's no stitching there to press on your head it's nowhere near as pronounced. Effectively I can live with it. I also pulled out the stitching on that little 1 inch area around the rim.

  • @PowerCobra98 Did removing the threading damge the helmet interior in any way? I know what you mean about half helmets, they move around waaaay too much to be effective in any type of crash, I only wear full face or 3/4 myself.

  • @TheSuave230 Yeah, I can't stand that but what I ended up doing which helped somewhat is I took out the thread in that area with a razor. That made it so the pattern isn't so pronounced afterward on your forehead and it goes away pretty quick. I liked the helmet too much to get rid of it and I can't stand wearing a half helmet anymore after wearing this 3/4. Just wish they would get rid of that pattern in future offerings cause I'd like to buy another and not have to "fix" it.

  • @PowerCobra98 LOL........you are absolutely right, love the helmet but am thinking of returning it due to this issue.
