  • One of the best bands ever. Haunting and atmospheric. I associate the band mostly with the TV series 'Robin of Sherwood'. I just wish they could release the music from Seasons 2 and 3...which also made extensive use of the Prophet 5, Yamaha DX7 synthesizers and Roland TR707 drum machine. Damn I'm a geek....none of you probably know what Im talking about LOL

  • @jitsukerr I'm must say, never before have I had my mother tongue and it's linguistic heritage reduced to 'pedantry'. I have not insisted anything, merely pointed out that this song is in Irish - is that such a difficult fact to accept? A simple: "I'm sorry" would have sufficed, but you seem intent on being obtuse about it.

  • @nmacparthalain I haven't contradicted myself. I originally said "one of the few songs in Gaelic", meaning _any_ form of Gaelic, not limiting myself to Irish Gaelic. I was being inclusive, not exclusive. I could quite happily say "a few songs in a Germanic language" and mean the same kind of inclusivity. Your insistence that the song is in Irish Gaelic is both correct, and at the same time unnecessary pedantry.

  • @jitsukerr Thank you - you have just proven my point and contradicted yourself into the bargain. "Gaelic is a *family* of languages" i.e. not *a* single language. This song is written in the Irish language, which is my first language, I can understand it. If it was written in Manx or scots-gaelic I wouldn't. German and Dutch are both Germanic languages, but you would not describe a song written in Dutch as being written in "Germanic" - would you?

  • @nmacparthalain Not really -- Gaelic is a family of languages that includes Irish Gaelic, Scots Gaelic, and Manx Gaelic. The three together form half of the Celtic branch of Indo-European languages.

  • @jitsukerr I think you mean "One of the few songs in Irish to reach the UK top 10"

  • lyrics:

    harm, harm, the dwarf

    harm, the dead

    harm, the dwarf

    harm, the dead

  • Brits amach na hÉireann

  • love it

  • gives me the shivers
